So near, but yet, so far!  Club Hampshire succumbed to a cruel last minute penalty that snatched the game away from them in their second County Championship Shield encounter away at Sussex.

Club Hampshire took a giant leap towards qualifying for the semi-finals of the County Championship Shield with an eventually comfortable 41-19 bonus point win over Middlesex in their Pool 4 opener at Portsmouth on Saturday.  Fielding 20 senior county debutants, including eight players who flew in from National 3 (L&SE) side Guernsey, Hampshire eased into a 17-0 lead in the opening quarter of the match but were pegged back before stretching away again in the final half-hour.

Club Hampshire have named their squad for their opening County Championship Shield Pool 4 match with Middlesex, which will be played at Portsmouth RFC at 2pm on Saturday.  The side is without any players from the Basingstoke club as they are participating in the London 1 South/North Play-off match against Eton Manor but there are a number of players travelling over from Guernsey for the game - eight in total!

Hampshire RFU are looking for fill three vacancies that have become available.  We require volunteer managers for the Club Hampshire Under 15s and Under 16s teams for the 2013/2014 season and also a manager for the Toynbee School of Rugby, the latter being a paid role.
