The London Division RFU have voted in favour of bringing in Rolling Substititions in all LondonDivision and Snows Group senior Hampshire Leagues for the 2012/13 season as a one-year experiment. Clubs will be allowed a maximum of three replacements rotating a maximum of eight times. The official league regulations will be updated in due course. Please note that these regulations with not be in force in the Merit Tables.
Club Hampshire team manager Mike Marchant has declared himself satisfied with
the senior county teams’ efforts in the County Championship Shield, despite
losing all three of the matches played in this season’s competition.
Leading members of Fordingbridge Rugby Club have launched two major
endurance fund-raising events. The first is aimed at setting what might
well become a Guinness World record for a non-stop run over the weekend
of Feb 24-26, and the second is the O’Connell Challenge, a near
1000-mile cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats from May 13-20.
Trojans Rugby Club are opening their doors to a Summer Touch League competition that will start on Tuesday 15 May 2012 at 1900 and will run for six weeks. The first week will be a taster week with each team playing in a number of ten minute games to achieve ranking for the following five weeks.
In near monsoon conditions, the Gales HSB Hampshire Plate Final was contested on the morning of the 29th April at Winchester RFC. A small crowd witnessed a contest that defied the awful conditions and provided some entertaining rugby with Jersey United Banks claiming an impressive 25-0 win over Southampton University Hospitals.
